i turned 25 yesterday. my wife had my family and my closest friends over for cake, ice cream and gift giving. the loot: wayne grudem's systematic theology and workout shorts from my parents, lsu coasters from my in-laws, card and check from my grandparents, polo shirts from my sister, a business card holder from my cousin, switchfoot dvd from my brother, mach 3 vibrating razor from my bride. it was a pretty good haul. the cake had two thin layers of chocolate cake with a moussey type cream filling in between, with peppermint and birthday cake ice cream to go with it. i also had a double chocolate ice cream cake at work after a lee's cheeseburger and fries for lunch. with mark twain's pizza for dinner, i would say it was a good day, for eating that is. my grandfather lead us in a singing of the doxology (although my dad corrected him and called it "a" doxology) at the end of the night. good times. i am reading through ezekiel as well as the psalms and proverbs. in ezekiel right now its all about the israleites whoring themselve to othe gods and their idol worship. the lord is not happy with idol worship and repeatedly lets them know that he is the lord, sometimes through very bloody means. ezekiel really hasn't had any good news from the lord yet, but i know its coming. he has some really great news about the new covenant coming soon, the reason he is my favorite prophet in the bible. i also picked up a copy of the call by os guinness from matt's office yesterday. the guys leading the pivot are going to be reading through it together. i will let you know how it is. thats enough for now, especially for my first post. out.
